Microsoft Announces the Latest Preview Of SQL Server Management Studio

Microsoft announces the latest preview of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). This release includes all the updates which were included in the March release, and it also features an update to the Visual Studio 2015 shell bringing new improvements .

Microsoft announces the latest preview of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). This release includes all the updates which were included in the March release, and it also features an update to the Visual Studio 2015 shell bringing new improvements such as quick launch toolbar, bug fix in SSMS tools menu option, bug fix in SSMS new project templates and improved theming options.
 
Microsoft states,
 
“SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) is an integrated environment for accessing, configuring, managing, administering, and developing all components of SQL Server. SSMS combines a broad group of graphical tools with a number of rich script editors to provide developers and administrators of all skill levels access to SQL Server. This release features improved compatibility with previous versions of SQL Server, a light weight stand-alone web installer, and toast notifications within SSMS when new releases become available.”
 
The version number for this latest preview is: 13.0.13000.55
 
This release of SSMS supports SQL Server 2016 through SQL Server 2005, and provides the greatest level of support for working with the latest cloud features in Azure SQL Database.

This release of SSMS supports the following platforms when used with the latest available service pack:
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 7 (SP1)
  • Windows Server 2012 (64-bit)
  • Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit)
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)
New features in this release:
  • New quick launch toolbar to quickly find menu items, and options dialogs.
  • Improvement in SSMS theming options to add support for an SSMS light theme.
